Meher Iqbal is a writer and freelance editor based in London.

As an editor, Meher Iqbal was selected for Hachette’s highly competitive Changing the Story Freelancer Training Programme in 2023, as featured in the Bookseller. She completed Publishing Training Centre (PTC) courses in copyediting, proofreading, editorial project management and freelancing through the programme. She completed early edits on an unpublished manuscript, Rapture by Dunni Abisayo, which has since been shortlisted for a number of literary prizes, including Discoveries 2024 and the #Merky Books New Writers’ Prize 2024. She works across fiction and non-fiction, providing editorial services on a freelance basis.

As a writer, she is a recipient of Spread the Word’s 2025 London Writers Award and is currently working on a short story collection that includes stories shortlisted for the Aurora Writing Prize 2024 and longlisted for the 4th Write Short Story Prize 2024. Her work has been published in Writerly Magazine. She also writes personal essays. After her collection, she will write her first novel.
